Day-Dream for Motivation

Next time you feel de-motivated, take a few minutes to day dream. Sit back comfortably, close your eyes, relax and take a few deep breaths. Then picture your goals and dreams, allow yourself a minute or two to remind yourself of why you are doing this in the first place.

The renewed motivation and energy this will bring you will more than make up for time spent day-dreaming.

Use a Count Down Timer

Using a countdown timer can benefit your time management and concentration skills. Next time you are finding it difficult to concentrate at work, set a countdown timer for 10 minutes and focus on doing as much work as possible before it rings.

If you get on well and maintain your concentration for the 10 minutes, set it for 12 minutes next time and keep increasing the duration by 2 minutes until you find your concentration waning. If you find it difficult to focus, during the allocated time reduce the duration by 2 minutes.

You will find a simple countdown timer on many watches and mobile phones. Alternatively, you can find a useful online countdown timer here.

It’s Hard Not Impossible

Next time you experience a setback and feel like giving up on something, remind yourself that it might be hard but it’s not impossible.

The fact that it’s difficult may well be the reason it was worth doing in the first place. Would you have started if you knew it was going to be easy?

Won’t your sense of achievement and accomplishment be greater because it took a greater effort to achieve your objective?

Use the fact that it’s hard as a self motivator, not as a reason to give up.
